R1 2003 FRONT FORK INSTALLATION TO 2001 FZ1
2003 R1 Front end, the existing yokes will be sold
as they will not fit the FZ1. The top yoke has
no holes for the risers and the lock stops are wrong
Std FZ1 yokes will not accept the R1 fork legs as
the fork dia is different
The first job is to remove the complete front end
then the ignition needs to be removed this can
be a pain as they have Yamaha security bolts.
I had to drill a small 1/8 hole 6mm down then I used a 8mm drill to remove the head
of the security bolt, when the switch is removed I used a pair of pliers to undo the threaded section left in the yoke, this was hard to also undo because of the thread lock used by Yamaha.
